WHY DON’T I HAVE THESE ANY MORE?
- Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you. If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you. You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot. Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks…

Be Mine (by katieshmatee)
So this is a sad post and I know many people probably do not want to see pictures of a dead sea lion but I am posting this because I want to share my story of finding this poor guy. I was taking my dog for a walk last week and was looking through some tide pools (one of my favourite past time activities) when I looked up to see this gigantic sea lion. At first I was too stunned to move, then I realized he was still alive. I ran over to investigate, only to realize he was on his last legs.. I was soo SAD I talked to her for a minute hoping to maybe calm her, realistically to make myself feel better. I then decided if she must go I wanted her to go in peace and to know she was cared for, since her family wasn’t around. I ran home as quick as I could, since it wasn’t too far, and grabbed some sage. I got back and her breaths were very slowed, laboured and pained..it was heartwrenching but I didn’t want her to be alone. I lit the sage and made up my own ceremony for her, honouring her life and hoping her soul a peaceful journey.
This experience rattled me for quite some time and I couldn’t help but keep thinking about what caused her death; was it a natural, pollution related, boat injury??
This story comes full circle as today when I went back (the first time I could bare to bring myself back) to this cove there were signs up stating that this was now a mammal protection site. I sat on a bench close to the water and shore but far enough away I wasn’t going to disturb the wildlife. Wouldn’t you know it within 2 minutes of sitting and reflecting I heard a low sputter, I realized it was a sea lion swimming.. and then another and one more after that! It was beautiful and I was in total awe…but I couldn’t help wonder if these sea lions were looking for there family member.. were they morning for her?
After watching these magnificent creatures for a bit, my dog and I continued on our walk. Well wouldn’t you know it I saw a sick baby dear, she was laying on the side of the road curled in a ball …she moved a little but her eyes were only half open and she was panting :( I went home and called a wild animal rescue society, so im hoping she will be ok.
For now I am grappling with what is happening to our fellow brothers and sisters on this planet!! To many people are sleeping or happy being sheep! We all need to wake up and realize if the animals on our planet are dying, which they are at rapid speeds, then we will be next to go. If all the people who are passionate about something worthy (like our environment, human rights, our children) could come together, Im sure we could solve many of the worlds problems. Ahh ok im going on a rant now but you get the gist, we as humans need to start working together in our communities, countries, and internationally to try and sort this out before its too late. And please don’t tell me it’s too late so why bother trying, because I believe thats just giving up and not wanting to do the hard work! I want future generations to look back on this period of time and see that idealists and dreamers changed the way!
